Job Summary
The program manager leads and manages an assigned technical or operational portfolio, which may be large or small in total budget and may encompass one or more discrete programs.
Duties
Bro‑kage with customers and individual researchers or research groups/programs to determine work to meet customer needs, timeframes, and funding requirements.
Develop working relationships that span existing internal/external institutional missions and extend into new opportunities as policies, missions, and opportunities evolve.
Define program scope, schedules, budgets, priorities, and performance milestones; develop cost, scope, and schedule baselines; report cost and schedule variance; manage change control and risk.
Build and nurture effective internal and external customer relationships, interacting with all levels of personnel, building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts.
Provide excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Maintain regulatory and laboratory requirements related to programmatic work.
Serve as a project and program manager to coordinate multiple projects and activities over time to meet customer requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of related management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Post‑graduate coursework may be desirable.
Advanced knowledge of program management of technical or operational work, including defining scope, schedules, budgets, priorities, milestones, cost baseline, variance reporting, change control, and risk.
Advanced knowledge of the technical or operational discipline of assigned portfolios.
Advanced knowledge of regulatory and laboratory requirements related to programmatic work.
Experience in developing and nurturing effective internal and external customer relationships.
Experience interacting effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel; building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts.
Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.
