Commercial Painter - Airport Infrastructure Project

Long-term commercial painter position for a prestigious 5‑year airport infrastructure improvement project

Work within a secure airport environment requiring security clearance and highest professional standards

Position demands precision, reliability, and the ability to work efficiently around active airport operations

Surface Preparation and Assessment

Prepare surfaces on metal structures, stucco exterior walls, interior drywall systems, and concrete surfaces

Perform cleaning, sanding, scraping, and priming activities across diverse substrate materials

Assess surface conditions and identify appropriate preparation methods for different environmental conditions

Remove existing coatings when necessary and repair minor surface defects

Apply appropriate primers to ensure optimal coating adhesion and longevity

Coating Application and Quality Control

Apply protective and decorative coatings using brush and roller techniques

Work with various coating types including latex paints, epoxy systems, specialty aviation‑grade coatings, and anti‑corrosion treatments

Apply weather‑resistant finishes designed for harsh airport environments

Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with project specifications

Maintain detailed records of materials used and surfaces covered

Safety and Security Compliance

Adhere to construction safety protocols and specialized airport security procedures

Use personal protective equipment and comply with confined space entry procedures when applicable

Coordinate with airport operations to minimize disruption to ongoing activities

Report to project supervisors regarding progress and any encountered challenges

Experience and Background

Minimum five years of commercial painting experience with multiple surface types and coating systems

Substantial experience on large‑scale commercial or industrial projects

Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance

Must successfully pass comprehensive background investigations including criminal history checks, employment verification, and personal reference reviews

Clean background with no disqualifying criminal history, particularly theft, violence, or security‑related offenses

Technical Expertise

Proficiency in surface preparation techniques for metal, stucco, drywall, concrete, and composite materials

Competency with power tools, sanders, pressure washers, and various cleaning equipment

Knowledge of proper primer selection and application techniques for different substrate materials

Coating application skills with brush, roller, and spray equipment operation

Understanding of proper thinning ratios, environmental application limitations, and quality control inspection techniques

Physical Requirements

Ability to work at heights using scaffolding and aerial lift equipment

Capability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly

Physical stamina for extended periods of standing, climbing, and repetitive motions

Visual acuity sufficient to detect color variations and surface defects

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in airport, government, or high‑security environments

Certifications from NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) or SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings)

Experience with specialty coatings such as epoxies, polyurethanes, and anti‑corrosion systems

Proficiency with spray application equipment including airless sprayers, conventional spray guns, and electrostatic application systems

Industry‑recognized painting credentials and safety training certifications

Security Requirements

Strict adherence to access control procedures and proper identification badge display

Compliance with escort requirements in restricted areas

Immediate reporting of suspicious activities or security concerns

Personal belongings subject to security screening with certain prohibited items in secure areas
