Position Overview
We are seeking a player-obsessed, detail-driven
Product Manager
to own the full lifecycle of TYPTI’s official equipment and apparel portfolio—including rackets, balls, bags, strings, grips, clothing, and accessories. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role will define product strategy, drive innovation, and ensure every item enhances the unique speed, spin, and “wow-factor” of TYPTI play. This is a full-time position with potential travel required for trade shows and key events. The ideal candidate lives and breathes racket sports, sweats the small stuff, and can translate athlete feedback into market-winning gear.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap : Build and execute a multi-year roadmap for all TYPTI-certified equipment and apparel including but not limited to rackets, balls, string, grip, over wrap, bags, shoes and apparel, balancing performance, durability, affordability, and style.
Licensees
– create product licensee paradigm that maximizes profit and value and includes selling, managing and overseeing licensee partners in all product categories.
Design & Development : Lead ideation, prototyping, and iteration of rackets, balls, strings, grips, bags, apparel, and accessories in collaboration with engineers, designers, and pro-player ambassadors.
Player Testing & Validation : Organize on-court testing sessions with pros, juniors, college athletes, and weekend warriors to gather quantitative and qualitative data on feel, spin, control, and durability.
Certification & Compliance : Establish and enforce official TYPTI equipment standards; manage certification process for third-party manufacturers and retail partners.
Supply Chain & Manufacturing : Create relationships with all potential global vendor partners to create the best paradigm for quality and pricing. Manage production, control quality, cost targets and inventory.
Go-to-Market Execution : Collaborate with marketing and sales to launch products with compelling storytelling, demos, and influencer activations; ensure retail and online channels are stocked and merchandised.
Data-Driven Iteration : Analyze sales, returns, warranty claims, and player reviews to continuously improve products; own SKU rationalization and inventory forecasting.
Revenue & Margin Ownership : Work with sales and finance to set pricing, hit gross-margin goals, and explore licensing or co-branded opportunities.
Required Qualifications
Deep knowledge of racket sport equipment (materials, construction, performance attributes).
Experience in product management and merchandising within racket sports.
Ability to take products from concept to market on time and on budget.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint, Word, and likely PLM software, and ERP systems.
Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership; ability to rally designers, factories, and athletes around a vision.
Potential travel to trade shows and factory visits.
Preferred
Experience playing junior and/or collegiate tennis, pickleball, or padel.
Background in startup environments or launching new product categories.
Familiarity with 3D modeling (SolidWorks/Rhino) or material science.
Obsessive passion for racket sports and an eye for what makes gear “feel right.”
