Overview The Call Center Premium Surgery Counselor assists patients with all aspects of the surgical process, educating and counseling them on surgical options and premium products. They schedule surgeries, coordinate with offices, surgical facilities, patients, and referring physicians, ensuring a smooth surgical experience.
Responsibilities
Maintains basic knowledge of surgeries performed at American Vision Partners facilities
Provides clear, concise details to patients about what to expect for surgery
Educates patients on pre/post‑operative instructions and consents for surgeries
Reviews all surgery paperwork to ensure signed documents are received
Schedules necessary appointments, as appropriate by specialty
Monitors surgery schedules for cancellations/no‑shows and reschedules patients
Ensures all patient out‑of‑pocket money owed is documented and collected prior to surgery
Maintains referring provider relationships
Creates an exceptional patient experience
Monitors voicemail and task inboxes and responds to inquiries timely
Answers incoming phone calls from patients concerning their surgery
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times
Participates in ongoing training and continued education
Encourages a team‑oriented environment
Performs any additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
At least one year of experience in a medical practice; refractive, surgical, aesthetic or ophthalmology specialties preferred
Experience in ophthalmology preferred
Comfortable discussing financial options and presenting payment plans
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to make decisions within established protocols with minimal supervision
Detail oriented, reliable, able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
