Responsibilities

Thoroughly analyze specifications, building plans, and shop drawings to identify necessary work aids and meticulously plan the installation sequence for optimal efficiency.

Ensure the work area is consistently clean and organized, strictly adhering to safety regulations to uphold the principles of 6S. Regularly inspect and utilize personal tools, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), and safety gear for a secure working environment.

Set up equipment and welding parts using arc, submerged arc, gas‑shielded arc, MIG, and TIG machines. Help plumbers, pipefitters, welders, sheet metal workers, or HVAC workers as needed.

Inspect the structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of the structure resulting from the installation of pipe. Lay out and mark position of pipe and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors using ruler, level, square and laser.

Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and fittings using hand and power tools. Install sleeves and openings for roof and wall penetrations. Help excavate, backfill and tamp ditches using shovels, picks and tampers. Help cut, ream, solder, braze, fuse, solvent weld, groove, thread pipe and pressfittings using measuring tools, pipe cutters, torches, beveling machines, reamers, bolts, screws, fittings, alloys, gaskets, solvent cement, fusing machine, groove and pipe‑threading machines.

Lay‑out, position, align, fit, tack‑weld, assemble and install valves, hangers, pipe and fittings composed of metals such as iron, steel, aluminum, brass, copper and non‑metals such as fiberglass and plastic using hand tools, roustabouts, grasshoppers, come‑alongs, chin falls and power tools. Bend pipe by hand or with a pipe‑bending machine. Fill pipe systems with water or air to determine system leaks. Install, maintain and repair air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems including compressors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic controls and piping and similar mechanical accessories.

Qualifications

Possession of a High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

4+ years as a Pipefitter Journeyman preferred.

Trained and qualified to operate machinery such as scissor lifts, aerial lifts, forklift, etc.
