Location: 1 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, West Virginia. Salary: $145,000-$165,000 per year.
Additional Job Description Manages a wide range of specialized Planning, Design & Construction services in support of WVUH and its facilities. Responsible for maintaining the WVUH Renovation and Improvement system. Responsible for developing and maintaining the WVUH Facilities Resource Center including the building’s record documents (drawings and specification materials, site records, improvement project documentation, etc.). Responsible for providing ready access to the above information for maintenance and improvement projects as well as for accounting and other WVUH purposes. Responsible for coordination of construction standards in cooperation with Facilities Engineering staff to ensure maintainability of projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in Architecture, Engineering or related field AND 3 years’ experience in construction
Associate’s Degree with coursework in Architecture, Engineering or related field AND 4 years’ experience in construction
High School Diploma or Equivalent AND 7 years’ experience in construction
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for developing and maintaining procedures for facilities renovation and improvement projects.
Develop clear and concise estimates for renovations and improvement requests, including accurate work scope descriptions and cost estimates; provide recommendations for alternate means of problem solution.
Utilize knowledge and experience to lead design process to a project that meets Hospital standards for quality patient care within defined constraints.
Ensure that all requestors and approval persons understand the work scope and cost implications of the project.
Ensure that all projects comply with all guidelines set forth by regulatory agencies.
Operate computers to access electronic resources including drawings, correspondence, databases, etc.
Maintain the WVUH Facilities Resource Center for all drawings, technical manuals, submittals, specifications, etc. utilized by Facilities personnel.
Catalogue and obtain reference and as-built records of all facility construction, renovation and improvements that affect WVUH facilities.
Maintain a cataloging system including cross references to facilitate ready access to all materials.
Ensure that the Resource Center interfaces with existing data systems.
Coordinate facilities projects for the Manager of Planning, Design & Construction.
Review and revise plans, specifications, drawings, etc. with end users input for equipment/system modifications, installations, renovations and new construction projects.
Direct, supervise, monitor and coordinate different tradespersons by daily visiting their assigned projects on a daily basis to ensure timely and cost‑effective completion.
Monitor all expenses for equipment, FF&E, construction, design, change orders, project scope changes to ensure the project remains within budget.
Maintain change order log and track project expense bi‑weekly; maintain all budget vs expense documentation and project schedule.
Coordinate the activities of contractors, vendors, and WVUH personnel with regard to assigned projects.
Alert appropriate leadership staff on any issues as, and where possible, before they impact the project.
Perform all above duties with dedication to the highest level of customer service for end users.
Physical Requirements
Requires frequent on-site surveys necessitating prolonged standing, walking, climbing, bending, crouching, stretching, reaching.
Requires ability to lift 25 lbs.
Working Environment
Work may involve exposure to a variety of physical hazards.
Protective equipment such as respirators, disposable clothing, hearing, foot, and eye protection is required.
Skills & Abilities
Thorough knowledge of standard construction industry work practices and procedures.
Familiarity with common and highly specialized materials and equipment used in healthcare facilities.
Technical knowledge of design and construction to maintain record documentation.
Ability to interact on a daily basis with individuals at all organizational levels.
