Location & Schedule Location:

400 Smoke Tree Plz, North Aurora, IL 60542

Schedule:

Tuesday - Saturday, 10pm-6am

Role Description As an Area Manager, you will directly manage and develop a team of leads and associates. Your responsibilities include driving process improvement, maintaining a safe work environment, tracking operational performance across various metrics, fostering employee engagement, and owning team development. You’ll receive exposure across departments and shifts, contributing to operational and cultural excellence as ShipBob continues to grow.

What You’ll Do

Manage, build, and develop a team of 30+ warehouse associates (Temp and FTE).

Review weekly work forecasts and identify productivity requirements to meet overall building objectives.

Partner with other Area Managers to balance labor ensuring efficient shifts while meeting all goals.

Own operational metric reporting, including VCPO, UPH, OPH (Batch, Labelling, Pick, Pack), on‑time receiving and shipping, merchant SLA’s, and injury rate. Identify improvement areas, troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions.

Ensure teams are properly trained on processes, procedures, and performance goals; assign tasks, provide coaching, and motivate performance.

Develop Lead talent, ensuring they have the tools, training, and resources to meet standards.

Actively foster employee engagement through activities, events, and programs that contribute to workplace culture and wellbeing.

Review and approve associate timecards daily.

Serve as the contact for escalated issues, mitigating risk and resolving quickly.

Support all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe work environment.

Supervise daily workflows to ensure proper product handling, storage, and compliance with hygiene and contamination control standards.

Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.

What You’ll Bring To The Table

2+ years of people management and operational leadership experience within a high‑volume 3PL fulfillment environment; preferred experience in ecommerce, retail, and manufacturing.

Ability to manage performance, deliver feedback, and develop talent.

Solid computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerBI, and TMS systems.

Strong analytical skills and experience tracking and achieving KPIs.

Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

Comfort navigating and managing ambiguity.

Hard‑working, detail‑oriented, passionate about helping small businesses compete online.

Ability to build and maintain relationships with business stakeholders and carrier partners.

Willingness to work rotating shifts and non‑traditional hours as needed.
