Shift Support Supervisor I – Energy Northwest

General Summary The Shift Support Supervisor has two key functions:
1.
If assigned to an operating crew, the supervisor is responsible for the operation of certain balance of plant processes as assigned by the Shift Manager. The supervisor controls the operation of activities within the Radwaste Control Room and directly supervises equipment operator activities external to the main control room. If licensed, the supervisor may assume the responsibilities of the Control Room Supervisor on assigned shifts.

If assigned to operations work control, the supervisor ensures all activities related to plant operation for power generation are conducted safely and efficiently in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and Energy Northwest policies and procedures. The supervisor directs the development of detailed plans/schedules for all corrective and preventive maintenance, surveillance, post‑maintenance test, and modifications within an assigned work week. The supervisor works across organizations, collaborates with all departments and project managers to resolve conflicts, ensures schedule adherence, and supports the Columbia Generating Station (CGS) Emergency Plan by performing drills, exercises, on‑call training, and qualification activities when required.
Principal Accountabilities
Maintain an adequate supply of nuclear grade condensate, solid and liquid waste storage capacity by directing the operation of the radwaste facility; ensure consumable materials (diesel, boiler fuel, hydrogen, nitrogen, acid, etc.) are maintained.
Ensure balance‑of‑plant processes and equipment comply with approved procedures, Technical Specifications, and environmental requirements; provide the Shift Manager with status reports on radwaste, waste treatment, and other systems.
Assume routine administrative tasks: time‑distribution reports, overtime callout, fire‑protection logs, and notify appropriate individuals during emergencies.
Act as the on‑shift notifier (EP duty) for off‑site agencies during emergencies.
Interface with shift personnel, other departments, and outside agencies such as PAC‑NUC, ANI, and the off‑site fire department.
Coordinate maintenance, health physics, and operations interface for activities external to the main control room.
Ensure adherence to plant safety policies and maintain radiation exposure of on‑shift personnel as low as reasonably achievable.
Assist in training and qualification efforts to ensure qualified operators perform plant tasks.
Direct the emergency team when a fire, medical, radiological, or other site emergency occurs, providing direction to the fire brigade leader for plant equipment protection.
Operations Work Control Accountabilities
Provide supervision and technical leadership to Operations personnel working on projects and programs; develop, review, and revise procedures to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulations.
Act as the primary liaison for the Operations Department with Planning, Scheduling, and Outage organization; attend all online and outage work‑management meetings.
Investigate and dispose of Condition Report issues; review and approve dispositions completed by staff.
Establish and monitor clearance and tagging processes, plant impact assessments, and Operations roles in implementing AP‑928 and the Work Management Process.
Develop plans, budgets, and schedules for meeting Operations‑related outage milestones; monitor progress toward milestone completion.
Interface with outside agencies such as vendors, INPO, and NRC to coordinate Activities for the Operations Manager.
Assume the responsibilities of the Operations Manager as needed; determine personnel salary actions, training, discipline, and performance of subordinates.
Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team and perform special projects as required.
Provide support to the OCC and EOC or other relevant teams.
Required Education & Experience
A Bachelor’s degree plus two years of specific experience; or an Associate’s degree plus four years of specific experience; or a high school diploma/GED plus six years of specific experience.
A SRO license may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
Completion of a Navy Nuclear program (generally four years of Navy Service plus two years of Navy Nuclear) may substitute for the required education and experience.
Specific experience: equivalent technical power‑plant or nuclear experience, e.g., engineering, chemistry, US Navy, commercial nuclear operation, operational training. Operations Management will review other qualifications.
For a supervisor of non‑licensed operators, minimum requirements are HS/GED and four years of craft/discipline‑specific experience (does not apply to license candidates).
Pay Range $122,681.00 – $184,021.00 Annual
Midpoint $153,351.00
Incentive Compensation Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate’s qualifications. This role may be eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan earned based on performance.
