Job Summary:
The DDGs Origination & Logistics coordinator plays a central role in supporting trading operations, logistics execution, and supplier relationships across multiple facilities. This position ensures timely and accurate movement of product, proactive communication with internal teams, external partners, and strategic purchasing support for DDGs and related commodities. The coordinator will monitor market conditions, track quality concerns, and maintain critical data flows to optimize inventory, freight, and origination decisions. This role requires strong attention to detail, daily problem‑solving, and the ability to communicate effectively across traders, logistics teams, suppliers, and end users.
Purchasing & Origination
Originate DDGS from strategic loading facilities
Purchase rail & truck product
Make weekly decisions on purchase allocations for specific sales
Collect offers and coordinate origination within Hawkeye Gold’s trading network
Stay familiar with freight spreads to identify value opportunities
Logistics Coordination & Execution
Monitor truck positions and keep Trader informed of weekly availability to ship
Dispatch weekly unload directions and manage truck‑related issues, including diversions and load number changes
Coordinate with container logistics on weekly truck dispatch needs to cover inventory and bookings
Maintain daily accuracy of inventory lists, including load/unload numbers, scheduled deliveries, and delivered quantities
Check with end users weekly to ensure loads are delivered as planned
Track containers loaded at all facilities daily and provide detailed reporting
Send weekly balance reports by procurement location to trader and logistics
Maintain data for daily/monthly container loads and monthly/yearly truck details
Enter all truck applications into logistics tracking system
Obtain freight rates from carriers as required and coordinate deliveries
Supplier & Facility Relationship Management
Build familiarity with each supplier’s shipping methods
Maintain daily contact and strong trading relationships with designated traders
Communicate with suppliers on shipments, contract terms, and resolve any disputes or issues
Collaborate with trader on market activity, including futures markets and spot opportunities
Identify weekly solutions when supplies are long or short
Ensure ongoing awareness of quality, logistics, and market issues affecting supply or demand.
Administrative & Reporting
Manage monthly paper washes
Maintain thorough documentation for inventory, loads, trucks, and container flows
Drive a culture of safety, accountability, opportunistic curiosity and contribute to creating an environment where people want to work
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Agriculture, or related field (or relevant experience)
3–5 years of experience in logistics coordination, commodity trading support, or supply chain operations, preferably in agriculture, grains, or biofuels
Utilize e‑mail, text, messenger and logistics platforms, and Microsoft office programs
Experience with truck dispatch, container logistics, or rail operations preferred
Familiarity with DDGS or similar commodity origination is a plus
Experience with logistics, transportation, or inventory management software
Basic understanding of freight spreads, market offers, and futures markets is preferred
Ability to manage and maintain detailed reporting systems
Physical Demands
Frequent sitting, use of computer, communication via telephone
Regular and predictable attendance in office or site location.
Job may require occasional travel within the United States.
