GPI Geospatial is looking for a Land Surveying Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of land surveying services in South Carolina and surrounding regions, primarily focusing on Department of Transportation and Municipal infrastructure and Energy-related projects (such as transmission lines and substations).

The ideal candidate will lead a team of surveyors and technicians, ensure compliance with all state regulations, and collaborate with engineering, construction, and project management teams.

Additionally, the role provides the opportunity to manage projects and process data utilizing various surveying technologies, including mapping from aerial and mobile platforms, laser scanning, UAS, bathymetric surveys, and subsurface utilities designation.

The position requires a valid license as a Professional Land Surveyor in South Carolina. The candidate should have experience in conducting technical operations on projects, managing schedules and budgets, and collaborating with other managers to effectively utilize both field and office staff in order to complete projects on time and within budget. The position involves managing projects across South Carolina while also supporting GPI Geospatial offices located in Charlotte, NC, and Greenville, SC. Responsibilities

Manage field and office surveying projects for transportation and energy projects

Oversee project timelines, budgets, staffing, and quality control

Prepare and review plats, ALTA surveys, right-of-way and easement exhibits, topographic surveys, and boundary surveys

Provide QA/QC for all survey deliverables and ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance

Coordinate with DOT, utility companies, engineering consultants, and governmental agencies

Supervise, train, and mentor field crews and survey technicians

Contribute to business development, proposal writing, and client relationships

Qualifications

South Carolina Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license (active and in good standing)

Minimum 5 years of progressive land surveying experience, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role

Experience with DOT standards and practices

Proven experience in energy-related projects (transmission, distribution, or renewables)

Proficiency with survey technology, including GPS, Total Stations, UAV/Drone mapping, AutoCAD Civil 3D or Carlson Survey

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Familiarity with LiDAR, mobile mapping systems, and data integration tools

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally as needed
