We seek a self‑starter who can partner with regional Operations Supervisors and lead one of the largest renewable energy businesses through maintenance and capital projects. This role involves travel within New York (up to 50% off‑site).
Title Supervisor, Outage – New York
Responsibilities
Coordinate unit outage planning with field supervisors, using energy production forecasting.
Establish and plan projects and project schedules.
Prepare specifications and fabrication sketches for replacement parts.
Troubleshoot and perform forensic failure analysis to prevent repeated failures.
Develop preventive maintenance procedures.
Support field supervisors with emergency repairs and, when required, assume their role.
Maintain project progress information, reports, schedules, and accountabilities.
Manage project safety, scope, cost, schedule, and milestones using appropriate tools.
Strive for continuous improvement of unit availability, forced outage rates, and generation.
Develop and maintain a condition monitoring program for critical equipment.
Coordinate with purchasing to procure materials and equipment.
Be on call to respond to emergencies.
Support training development in Litmos.
Other duties as specified by the Sr. Operations Manager.
Required Skills
Familiarity with hydro turbine or centrifugal pump design considerations.
A practical, adaptable, innovative, collaborative, and solution‑focused approach to issues.
Strong problem‑solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to organize, plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Strong self‑direction in learning and discovery.
Competent on conventional machine tools and knowledge of CNC machines.
Experience with machine shop practices and equipment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
Intermediate computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project). Preferred experience with Enterprise Resource Programs (IFS), SharePoint, and Litmos.
Required Experience
Associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Project management or team‑lead experience (3 years preferred).
Experience or exposure in the power generation field; hydro‑specific experience preferred.
Demonstrated safe work habits and familiarity with OSHA standards.
Familiarity with rigging, craning, confined space, work‑at‑height, and electrical best practices.
Salary:
$80k–120k per year.
Bonus:
