Job Purpose This position is responsible for the day-to-day manufacturing operations in assigned department(s). Responsible for achieving daily productivity, efficiency, cost, quality and safety objectives through both individual and team contributions. Provides direction, leadership, development, and support to direct reports through empowerment, teamwork, on-the-job assignments and continuous improvement initiatives. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies, OSHA regulations and applicable laws.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee, provide leadership, and coordinate activities for production within the plant to ensure quality and productivity targets are attained

Supervise all employees in your department(s) and manage the flow of production

Encourage teamwork within the lines and across all shifts

Monitor shop floor safety. Responsible for training team members in their operations and the safety requirements of that operation

Responsible for maintaining high standards for housekeeping, safety and general maintenance

Actively participate in all aspects of quality control as it relates to daily production

Verify work standards/ set up sheets, quality checkpoint sheets and all other production related documents are present at the point of use and up to date. Must also ensure employees follow them

Monitor scrap on daily basis and implement corrective actions to achieve yearly scrap goals

Focus on improving product and process capability

Forward thinking and self-motivated in relation to production floor/ systems improvements

Involved in problem solving and corrective actions related to production issues

Oversee production meetings with employees in your department(s)

Liaison to Team Leaders on all shifts (Coach, Lead, and Direct). Must be willing to accept phone calls during off hours

Able to coach and give disciplinary notices to employees when necessary

Update and assess employee-training matrix at all times

Schedule and post overtime requirements when necessary

Monitor vacation and attendance of employees in your department. Responsible for time entry

Supports, enforces and complies with all company policies and procedures

In charge of completing performance evaluations on employees

Education and Experience

High School diploma required. College degree or some college preferred

3+ years manufacturing or assembly experience, Experience working in a union environment & supervisory experience preferred

Solution oriented with the ability to investigate and analyze data for problem solving

Project Management skills and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously

Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to think and act cross-functionally

Computer proficiency in a Windows environment utilizing Microsoft Office

Basic mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail focus

Ability to work in a fast paced, highly complex setting

Excellent organizational skills

Must be flexible to work on first, second or third shift

Must have the ability to work overtime and weekends as required
