Foreman Telecom Underground
At Pauley Construction, as a Foreman on our Telecom Underground team, you’ll lead crews in the installation and maintenance of underground telecommunication systems, ensuring all safety protocols and project timelines are met. You will oversee crew operation, manage safety, materials, reporting, customer interactions, and productivity. The role includes managing crews with 2‑8 employees or subcontractors, coordinating operations such as trenching, aerial work, drilling/bore, asphalt, conduit, and machine operation. You will interface with customers and city inspectors, coordinate pre‑construction meetings, maintain safety and production records, handle as‑builds, and assist with permits, site safety, and location calls. The ideal candidate is also a skilled excavation operator.
What You’ll Do
Lead crews to meet project timelines
Shoveling, digging, handling and operating construction equipment
Excavation operations including operating equipment and transportation of equipment if needed
General oversight of work direction within a crew or a group of sub‑contractors
Assisting in securing site; employees and safety
General maintenance
General utility installation/repair
Assists with as‑builds and ensures attention to detail and high quality work
May assist supervisor in administrative tasks relating to hiring and interviewing employees
Help with training of crew members
Read and understand blueprints
Help ensure everyone is following company safety policies, OSHA, and DOT regulations
Assist Supervisor with day‑to‑day activities
Speak with property owners about work to be performed and resolve any issues
Safely use heavy equipment and machinery
Perform work in all weather conditions
Other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need
To be 18 years of age or older
Authorization to work in the United States for this company
A valid driver's license
Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening
Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed
High School Diploma, GED equivalent, relevant work experience, or a combination of education and work experience preferred
6-12 months of work‑related experience pertaining to utility construction, telecommunications or laborer related work
Previous Foreman experience preferred

Proven leadership experience to direct workflow and produce high quality results
Any combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability to perform the designated job duties and responsibilities of the position
Ability to make common sense understanding to carry out instructions that are provided in written, oral or drawing; ability to deal with and understand problems involving different variables in many varied situations involving employees, customers and vendors
Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measurements in terms of distance, proportions, percentages and area); ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics
Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules and requirements, machine manuals of operation and process procedures; ability to write information including reports; ability to speak effectively to customers, coworkers, vendors and the public
May be required to work overtime, after hours, on weekends or be on‑call as work is needed to ensure work is completed
May include working nights and holidays as needed
May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business needs
Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
Physical & Safety Requirements
Duties will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reach with hands and arms to spaces both high and low; the employee may be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping for a moderate amount of time while on shift
The noise level in the work environment for this position is moderate
Employees performing these functions are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold temperatures, inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet and dust, and adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads and fog
Employees performing these job functions are required to lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds
Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens
Employees may be exposed to toxic or corrosive chemicals as well as moving machinery parts and pieces
Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus potentially near and/or far as needed

Pay Range The Foreman Telecom Underground hourly wage range is $25.00 - $35.00, depending on experience.
