We're now looking for an Energy Market Trading & Strategy Expert. This position is a
full‑time , remote/position.
Responsibilities
Energy Market Rules & Policy Interpretation
Master the market structure and trading rules of the 7 major U.S. Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs/ISOs), with a focus on core markets including PJM, CAISO, ERCOT, NYISO and MISO. Conduct in‑depth analysis of day‑ahead/real‑time energy markets, ancillary service markets, capacity markets, and Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) trading mechanisms.
Track real‑time changes in regulations by FERC and state‑level authorities. Analyze policy impacts on renewable energy integration, electricity pricing mechanisms, and subsidy policies, and deliver compliance and opportunity analysis reports.
Compare rule differences across regional markets to provide decision support for the company’s project site selection and market entry strategies.
Develop full‑scenario trading strategies covering long‑term/medium‑term contracts, spot trading, and ancillary services. Optimize trading portfolios to balance revenue and risk.
Analyze supply‑demand dynamics and electricity price fluctuation trends to anticipate market opportunities and enhance trading profitability.
Business Empowerment
Collaborate with product and sales teams to translate market rules and trading experience into commercial value, supporting the model design of innovative businesses.
Summarize market trading methodologies, build a U.S. power market knowledge base, provide rule training and trading support for internal teams, and improve cross‑departmental collaboration efficiency.
Qualifications
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree or above. Preferred majors include Power System and Automation, Energy Economics, Financial Engineering, International Trade, and other related fields.
Core Experience
3+ years of hands‑on experience in the U.S. Energy market trading, with a proven track record of independently managing RTO/ISO market trading.
In‑depth grasp of U.S. energy market trading rules and proficiency in the operation mechanisms of energy markets, ancillary service markets, and capacity markets.
Experience in RECs is a plus.
Strong quantitative analysis skills, with the ability to independently conduct market modeling and strategy optimization.
Proficiency in U.S. energy market settlement rules, with high financial acumen and cost‑control awareness. Capable of accurately calculating trading revenues and risk exposure.
Cross‑cultural communication skills to engage with U.S. market partners and regulatory authorities. English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing (fluent working language).
Competency Requirements
Sharp market insight and rapid decision‑making ability under pressure to respond promptly to market fluctuations and policy changes.
Rigorous logical thinking and attention to detail to ensure trading compliance and data accuracy.
Strong results orientation, excellent teamwork, and cross‑departmental promotion capabilities. Ability to translate professional knowledge into commercial outcomes.
