Overview pOpshelf’s mission is to provide “Fun Finds for Less,” enabling customers to treat themselves affordably. The Store operates with an emphasis on clean, organized, and customer‑first standards, with a rotating selection to keep our display fresh and engaging.
Responsibilities The Lead Team Member helps maintain a clean, well‑organized store and create a customer‑first culture through exceptional store standards. Duties include:
Providing superior customer service and exceeding expectations
Modeling product knowledge and selling techniques to enhance the customer experience
Maintaining a safe, clean, and well‑organized store environment
Assisting in merchandising the store in a manner that appeals to customers, retaining excitement to shop at pOpshelf™
Rotating product to create eye‑catching displays to drive sales, following company merchandising guidelines
Completing daily and weekly cleaning responsibilities to provide a superior shopping experience
Ensuring store consistency and reset standards for a clutter‑free experience
Following company policies and procedures as outlined in SOPs, the Employee Handbook, and company communications
Operating the cash register and scanner: itemizing and totaling customer purchases, collecting payment, making change, bagging merchandise, and assisting customers as needed
Assisting customers in the self‑checkout process at multiple register terminals simultaneously
Cleansing the store: taking out trash, dusting and mopping floors, cleaning restrooms and stockroom, and setting up sidewalk displays
Opening and closing the store under direction of the Store Team Leader and Assistant Team Leader in their absence
Performing additional duties as necessary in the absence of the Store Team Leader or Assistant Team Leader
Qualifications Knowledge and Skills
Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
Understanding of safety policies and practices
Ability to read and follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides
Proficiency with basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
Cash register functions and cash handling procedures, including accountability and deposit control
Work Experience and Education
High school diploma or equivalent, and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) preferred
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Frequent walking and standing
Frequent bending, stooping and kneeling to run check‑out stations, stock merchandise, and unload trucks
Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment such as hand‑held scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, two‑wheel dollies, and U‑boats (six‑wheel carts)
Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting up to 55 pounds
Occasional climbing (using ladder)
Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money and occasionally attend training meetings
Fast‑paced environment with moderate noise level
Exposure to strong scents and fragrances
Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions, wet floor surfaces, and household/industrial cleaning solutions
