Job Title: Material Planner

Location: St. Johns Shipbuilding – Palatka, FL Department: Planning / Supply Chain Reports To: Planning & Scheduling Manager

Position Summary: A material planner is someone who will need to understand manufacturing, how to read drawings, understand build strategy and sequencing, and preferably someone with some shipbuilding experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, schedule, and coordinate material requirements to support ongoing and upcoming shipbuilding projects.

Utilize Visual ERP to create, maintain, and track work orders, bills of material (BOMs), and inventory transactions.

Review engineering drawings and production schedules to determine accurate material needs and lead times.

Monitor inventory levels, identify shortages, and work with Purchasing to expedite critical materials.

Maintain accurate data in Visual for part numbers, suppliers, and job allocations.

Collaborate with the Planning, Production, and Warehouse teams to ensure materials are kitted and delivered on time to workstations.

Generate and analyze material status reports to identify risks or delays in the supply chain.

Support the development and continuous improvement of material planning procedures within Visual.

Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and customer requirements.

Qualifications:

Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience in shipbuilding or manufacturing accepted.

Engineering background and ability to interpret CAD software.

2+ years of experience as a Material Planner, Production Planner, or similar role.

Experience in a shipyard or heavy manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

Proficiency with Visual ERP (Infor Visual) required.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other planning tools.

Work Environment:

This position operates in an office and shipyard environment. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and industrial equipment may occur.
