Apex Strategic CPAs, PLLC
Apex is a growing, forward-thinking CPA firm built around the idea that every business owner deserves a clear path forward — and a trusted guide along the climb.
We meet our clients at Basecamp , establishing strong financial foundations through bookkeeping, payroll, and tax compliance. From there, we help them
ascend , using proactive tax planning, strategic insight, and advisory support to move confidently toward their
Summit
— stronger cash flow, smarter decisions, and long-term financial clarity.
Many of our clients do not have internal accounting or finance teams, so Apex serves as their outsourced partner, supporting everything from day-to-day accounting to high-level tax strategy and CFO-style advisory. Our work is not about chasing projects or rushing to the finish line at filing deadlines. It’s about guiding clients toward better outcomes — thoughtfully, intentionally, and year-round.
We are guided by a strong set of core principles: ownership, integrity, accountability, and pride in our work. At Apex, team members are encouraged to take responsibility for their role on the climb, contribute ideas, and help both our clients and our firm reach their own
Apex.
The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Tax Strategist
to help guide clients beyond compliance and toward stronger financial outcomes.
This role is designed for someone who enjoys helping clients plan the route ahead — not just reviewing where they’ve been. While technical accuracy and compliance remain foundational, the Senior Tax Strategist plays a key role in helping clients through proactive tax planning, thoughtful strategy, and hands‑on implementation throughout the year.
You will work closely with business owners and internal teams to identify opportunities, evaluate options, and help clients confidently execute tax strategies that support their long‑term goals.
Key Responsibilities
Proactively identify and implement tax planning strategies that align with clients’ goals.
Evaluate client circumstances throughout the year and adjust strategies as conditions change.
Translate complex tax concepts into clear, actionable guidance clients can confidently act on.
Monitor tax law and regulatory developments and help clients capitalize on new opportunities.
Tax Compliance Oversight
Use completed returns as a starting point for forward‑looking strategy, not the finish line.
Ensure timely filing and payment of income, sales, property, and specialty taxes.
Research and resolve tax notices, correspondence, and complex tax issues.
Work directly with business owners as a trusted advisor and strategic partner.
Collaborate with bookkeeping & advisory teams to identify tax implications within financial data.
Support firm leadership in complex planning conversations and special initiatives.
Process Improvement & Growth
Help refine Apex’s tax planning processes, tools, and methodologies.
Introduce improvements that reduce reactive work and create smoother climbs for clients and internal teams.
Serve as a resource and mentor within the tax team for strategic thinking and planning mindset.
Qualifications & Skills
Strong technical knowledge of individual, partnership, and corporate taxation.
Experience with multi‑state and multi‑locality taxation, including apportionment.

Experience with QuickBooks and financial statement analysis.
Familiarity with payroll tax concepts, especially multi‑state implications.
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize across multiple clients and initiatives.
Growth‑oriented mindset with interest in expanding both technical and advisory skillsets.
