A Day In The Life This position will be responsible for assisting the Director, Corporate Operations in all aspects of accounting and reporting for Bunge's reinsurance company and execution of various activities under Bunge's Corporate Segment. This position will be a key business partner with the Insurance Operations team, the captive management group and the tax and treasury teams. This position ensures that all insurance reporting requirements meet local statutory and consolidated group US GAAP and SEC financial reporting requirements, while maintaining a strong control environment in compliance with both SOX and internal policies and procedures. The position will also be involved in and cross train on various global Corporate and Holdings & Finance related activities.
What You'll Be Doing
Manages Bunge's in house reinsurance company financials and appropriate day-to-day accounting
Coordinates timely and accurate monthly/quarterly financial close processes
Oversees the recording, reconciliation, and analysis of premiums, losses, commissions, and other reinsurance-related balances
Manages investment balances
Provides global financial information to support underwriting needs
Leads development of global recharge and invoicing processes
Roll out and support global alignment of transaction posting
Ensures appropriate group eliminations
Supports the review of premiums, claims and expenses with third party agents and within the
Assist with technical and operational accounting memos relating to the insurance structure
Leads education across Bunge on the reinsurance accounting and its intercompany treatment
Ensures compliance with Sarbanes Oxley internal controls
Supports annual budget preparation and prepares certain cost center budgets
Liaises with external auditors, as required, to monitor the overall audit process, address audit requests in a timely, efficient, and consistent manner, and ensure that any findings are adequately addressed to mitigate any risk.
Be an engaged business partner and work closely with Bunge's outsource and cross functional teams
Cross-trains in additional Corporate, Holdings and Finance functions of the department
Supports roll out of global projects, as needed
Skills / Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; Qualified accountant or equivalent (CPA, etc.) a strong plus
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, SEC requirements.
5 plus years in progressive leadership roles across controlling and/or finance with an agricultural commodity, food ingredient or insurance business experience preferred
Strong leadership, technical expertise and experience working in controlling, US GAAP and SEC financial reporting roles; U.S. multinational experience with Corporate holdings or insurance companies desired.
Strong computer skills required including strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
SAP, OneStream and iCargo (or similar insurance software) system knowledge, preferred
Excellent communication, analytical and presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels in the organization.
Demonstrates the ability to work independently and as part of a team environment
Strong analytical skills
Strong leadership and relationship building capabilities
Flexibility to prioritize multiple responsibilities and activities in high pressure situations.
Ability to operate and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple ongoing projects, set priorities
Ability to understand the interconnectivity between systems and act on this understanding to solve discrepancies
Limited travel required
Overtime may be necessary for month end reporting as well as the annual budget process.
