Our rapidly growing firm in Downtown Los Angeles is working on the region’s most important infrastructure projects, including America’s first high‑speed rail system being built in California. HNTB has served as lead design partner on projects such as the Automated People Mover stations and United hub expansion at LAX, and as principal engineer on the Sixth Street “Ribbon of Light” Bridge and Crenshaw/LA Transit Corridor.

This role requires managing assigned projects throughout their entire lifecycle, developing scope and technical sections of proposals and procurement documents, participating in contract negotiations, and overseeing delivery to meet HNTB’s 4‑for‑4 performance: on‑time, on‑budget, high quality, and client satisfaction.
What You’ll Do
Develop project scope and fee quotations; assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts per HNTB’s Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
Serve as the primary client liaison and manage the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budget to completion.
Perform technical discipline tasks—including analysis, design, specification, and production—for assigned projects.
Implement the firm’s delivery plan using HNTB’s Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) and lead the development and execution of the project management plan.
Oversee project staffing—recruitment, development, retention, succession planning, and performance reviews.
Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to support business development, client relationship building, and proposal development for mini‑mega, mega, and super‑mega projects.
Assist with the recruitment, hiring, and development of staff, and plan for staff reporting and succession.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience.
Four years of successful management of engineering projects.
What You’ll Bring
Experience delivering 4‑for‑4 results on multi‑disciplinary or large/complex projects, with an ability to handle risk and change management independently.
Leadership of large teams, including sub‑consultants.
Proficiency in system tools for managing, monitoring, and delivering complex projects.
Experience with HNTB’s Sophisticated processes.
Strong client interface capabilities.
Ability to deploy talent to other projects and develop successors for continued client engagement.
What We Prefer
Fifteen years of relevant experience or more.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
Project delivery experience on Caltrans and LA Metro funded projects.
