Assistant Principal‑Chaparral MS (In‑District Applicants Only) – Position Available for the 26‑27 SY
City of Bremerton is hiring an Assistant Principal for Chaparral Middle School for the 26‑27 school year. This position is open to in‑district applicants only.
Job Description Administers school educational programs in middle school. Supervises students and staff by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Assists the school principal in overall administration of instructional programs and campus level operations. Coordinates assigned student activities and services.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Comply with the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession, district policies, and regulations.
Assist with implementation of District policies and procedures, State Board regulations, Federal regulations, and State statutes.
Serve as principal in the absence of the regular principal.
Assist in establishing short and long‑range educational goals for the school consistent with district policy.
Create a school atmosphere conducive to learning using a positive humanistic approach.
Assist the principal in the promotion of parent and community relations.
Assist in supervising the school's instructional programs.
Serve as the Special Education, 504 Campus Coordinator as assigned.
Provide and maintain inventory for instructional resources and materials.
Conduct classroom observations and serve as an evaluator in the teacher evaluation system.
Assist in the organization and administration of in‑service teacher training and staff evaluations.
Share supervisory responsibility for professional and support staff with the school principal.
Arrange for and oversee substitute teachers.
Assist in determining staffing needs.
Assist in developing the master schedule.
Assist the principal with the implementation of school improvement programs.
Provide documentation and assistance in investigating, collecting, and gathering information regarding questions, complaints, and incidents involving faculty, staff, and students.
Assist the principal in implementing and maintaining discipline of the student body.
Coordinate and manage parent, teacher, and student meetings concerning discipline.
Counsel and discipline students in cases of attendance and behavior problems.
Supervise attendance and truancy.
Serve as Site Test Coordinator to prepare and assist in the administration of all district and state mandated assessments.
Monitor student academic achievement for placement by analyzing state mandated test results.
Assist the principal with the supervision of extracurricular activities.
Plan and supervise student activity programs.
Maintain student records.
Assist in the management and preparation of the school budget.
Help supervise the preparation of all school reports.
Assist the principal in providing a clean and orderly building.
Inform the principal promptly of all cases of extreme danger and disaster.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Directly supervise 20+ employees in licensed and support staff as assigned, including recruitment, hiring, training, performance appraisal, and discipline.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to carry out each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
Demonstrated ability as a classroom teacher.
Knowledge of instructional administration.
Thorough understanding of school operations.
Strong organizational, communication, computer, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to coordinate campus support operations.
Education And/Or Experience
Master’s Degree.
Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
New Mexico Level 3B Administrative License or equivalent.
New Mexico Teacher License.
Technology Skills
Ability to use multiple virtual instructional platforms.
Proficient in Google Suites.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites.
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, community, and students.
Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Physical/Mental Demands Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently walk and sit; occasionally stand, use hands to manipulate objects; lift and move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally; requires vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, and depth; must maintain emotional control under stress.
