The Assessment & Planning Manager at Plymouth State University advances institutional effectiveness by coordinating academic and co-curricular assessment processes, supporting planning, and ensuring that evidence informs strategic decision making. The Manager serves as a partner to Academic Affairs and a connector among Plymouth State University (PSU), Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S), Institutional Research (IR), and USNH institutions, blending operational leadership with analytical insight to strengthen PSU’s assessment infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with assessment and planning professionals across USNH institutions (30% of time)
Serve as primary liaison with ET&S for assessment technology, analytics tools, and data integration
Manage and strengthen assessment of institutional initiatives by aligning reporting with PSU’s strategic plan
Conduct analyses and develop summaries to inform Academic Affairs and university leadership’s strategic planning decisions
Coordinate PSU’s external reporting (NSSE, NECHE annual reports, IPEDS with IR)
Support NECHE accreditation through evidence gathering, annual submissions, mid-cycle and follow-up report preparation
Oversee transitions to assessment systems and identify evidence gaps (60% of time)
Coordinate academic assessment processes across ET&S and learning technology units
Collaborate with IR to create dashboards, reports, and data packets
Manage implementation and support for rubric-based assessments and data collection/reporting
Partner with Academic Affairs and Assessment Faculty Fellow to refine assessment practices
Coordinate day-to-day assessment communications, tracking, and documentation
Deliver professional development on assessment, evidence interpretation, and program review
Manage workflows for assessment reviews
Support emerging institutional needs in program review, outcomes assessment, and continuous improvement
Provide training and consultation to co-curricular units on assessment and data use (10% of time)
Work with individual offices on developing outcomes, annual plans, and reports aligned with institutional priorities
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience
Master’s degree in higher education, data analysis, or related field; or bachelor's degree with experience
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Experience with assessment in higher education or ability/willingness to quickly ramp up knowledge and skills
Experience in assessment, institutional effectiveness, program evaluation, or higher-ed planning
A wide range of perspectives, from big picture to operational details
Effective time management to navigate multiple and widely different tasks on a daily basis
Technology competence and ability to learn new software applications and processes
Data management and analysis experience/potential
Ability to work well with different constituencies: ET&S, student support staff, faculty, PSU administration
Excellent written and oral communication
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Higher Education, Data Analysis, or related field
Experience with NECHE accreditation, program review, and assessment systems
Experience in data management and analysis

This position is located on-site at Plymouth State University with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement that would depend on business needs.
