Primary Purpose of Position Under the supervision of the County Extension Director, with guidance from the District EFNEP Extension Associate, the EFNEP Educator delivers nutrition education to adults and youth, meeting the needs of limited‑resource families.

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit North Carolina Cooperative Extension (NCCE) provides residents access to NC State University resources. Through programs, publications, and events, the Extension delivers unbiased, research‑based information.

Duties and Responsibilities

Recruit and enroll adults; conduct teaching visits in homes or group settings.

Teach basic principles of nutrition and food preparation skills.

Submit required program records and reports.

Market the program within the assigned area.

Recruit volunteers, involve them in leadership roles, and train them for marketing and data collection.

Collaborate with local Extension staff and community agencies, securing program resources.

Travel within the county, district, and state using a personal vehicle.

Maintain comprehensive understanding of NCCE’s role.

Recruit eligible families, instruct using approved curricula, and conduct food demonstrations.

Collect required data and submit reports to RNEA, EFNEP State office and CED.

Maintain confidentiality of program information.

Coordinate with collaborating agencies to extend outreach.

Establish and maintain partnerships with agencies and organizations serving EFNEP audiences.

Pursue professional development through trainings and other opportunities.

Participate in EFNEP meetings and trainings within and outside the county.

Enhance program visibility by communicating impacts to stakeholders.

Promote related educational opportunities to participants.

Meet established programmatic standards for performance and impact.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High‑school diploma or equivalent.

Bilingual‑fluent in English and Spanish (preferred).

Knowledge of community and social service programs for limited‑resource families.

Experience teaching or working with limited‑resource adults; nutrition education experience preferred.

Valid North Carolina driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.

Strong communication, teaching, organizational, data‑collection, and partnership‑building skills.

Work Schedule 30‑hour week, typically Monday‑Friday 8:15 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; occasional evenings and weekends.

Compensation Annual salary range: $24,422 – $28,000.
