Overview
The Oil‑Free Air division is continually developing ways to grow its core business, now including Energy Conversion. With the main objective of ensuring the maximum business growth and sales of Energy Conversion, the Oil‑Free Air Division is looking for a Business Development Manager Energy Conversion to strengthen the Division’s ability to promote and sell world‑class industrial heat pump and steam compressor solutions.
Mission Reporting to the National Sales Manager – OFA EC, your mission will be to lead the business development & growth efforts in the United States, create strategic partnerships, long‑term customers and drive sales of our Energy Conversion products. By leveraging your expertise, you will help us become the preferred supplier for heat pump and steam compressor solutions, with a focus on sustainability and the reduction of the carbon footprint at each customer facility.
Main Responsibilities
Sell industrial cooling, chillers, heat pumps, steam compressors and other energy conversion products, adding new products as they become available for greenfield or brownfield industrial projects. Collaborate with the existing sales team of air and gas compressor solution salespeople. Conduct plant surveys, report preparation and savings documentation.
Work closely with prime equipment and aftermarket sales colleagues to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Stay updated on industry regulations, energy policies, and government incentives for decarbonization and industrial energy efficiency.
Achieve or exceed assigned sales goals by developing action plans and schedules to identify specific sales prospects, targets, and/or markets and to forecast the number of contacts to be made.
Call on and sell Energy Conversion products to customers (end‑users), EPC, and through existing distributor partners in your assigned area. Actively engage in planned prospecting activities (cold calls, in‑person and virtual meetings, compressed air system analysis, and use of in‑house lead‑generating sales tools, C4C, etc.) to increase the customer base in the territory.
Proactively follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity.
Establish sustainable rapport within your area of responsibility by maintaining regular contact with sales team colleagues and existing/new customers.
Respond promptly to customer inquiries, introduce customers to our Energy Conversion capabilities, new products, and upgrades, study customer needs, and coordinate customer service.
Continuously update job knowledge (products, market segments, competitive landscape, sales/marketing strategies and skills) by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, networking, and participating in professional organizations.
Prepare reports as assigned relative to activity, lost orders, closings, follow‑up, and performance against targets and forecasts.
Maintain all field activity consistently and proactively in the company CRM portal, including appointments, opportunity creation, proposal generation, pricing approvals, updated project notes, and short/medium/long‑term pipeline management.
Prepare and present proposals, negotiate pricing, and be actively involved in negotiating legal and credit terms.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
7+ years of experience in thermal management (industrial chillers / steam boilers / system systems, heat pumps, thermodynamics, thermal integration), preferably including some experience in a direct sales or customer service capacity.
Drug skills not required.

Prepare a yearly territory business plan through deep analysis of market segments, products and applications, competitive landscape, etc.
Perform all duties in accordance with Atlas Copco standards, always striving to understand the needs and expectations of the customer.
Knowledge
Solid understanding of thermodynamics, steam cycles, and refrigeration technologies.
Strong technical and commercial acumen to translate product capabilities into customer benefits.
Excellent presentation and communication skills to engage internal teams and external stakeholders.
Analytical mindset with experience in market research, competitive analysis, and pricing strategies.
Proficiency in MS Office, CRM software, and digital marketing tools.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, thermal & power engineering, chemical engineering or a related field.

Country and City Description The role is based in Fremont, CA. Travel will be required on a regular basis within a defined territory to visit customers, project sites and suppliers. Travel can be up to 75% for customer meetings, training sessions, and industry events.
