Overview The Regulatory Specialist Coordinator is the organization’s expert in regulatory compliance, focusing on the Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), Ohio Department of Health (ODH), and other local, state, and federal agencies. The incumbent evaluates policies and standards established by external agencies, provides input into their interpretation, and ensures the organization’s ongoing compliance.

Essential Duties & Functions

Assist the organization in meeting overall regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Interface with all employees, from physicians and administrators to front‑line staff, to provide innovative solutions for compliance.

Coordinate oversight across the hospital main campus and any off‑site locations, including participation as a backup for multiple hospitals.

Lead organizational efforts to maintain “survey readiness,” including formal committee structure, regulatory updates, and timely communication.

Serve as the designated administrative liaison for all regulatory and accreditation committees.

Evaluate policies, procedures, audits, and related processes to ensure compliance with applicable standards and conditions.

Support process improvement activities that lead to compliance.

Other Duties & Functions

Lead facilitator for Joint Commission accreditation and disease certification programs, including bi‑annual on‑site surveys and intra‑cycle reviews.

Manage the application process, updates, and monitoring of survey results.

Perform other job‑related duties as directed by the supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced degree preferred.

Licensure:

Valid Ohio Registered Nurse license.

Experience:

5–7 years of job‑related experience in regulatory compliance or related roles.

Knowledge of the regulatory process at local, regional, state, and national levels, with working knowledge of Joint Commission/CMS standards and the survey process.

Strong communication across disciplines, ability to manage group dynamics, and experience in performance improvement processes.

Willingness to serve as a change agent and articulate the value of survey readiness to patients and staff.

Primarily an office setting with minimal clinical exposure.
