Maintenance Technician 2 – AM Shift, Plant 6
We are expanding our Maintenance Department and looking to add experienced technicians to our Shawano team. In this role, you will perform preventative and reactive maintenance on printing and finishing machines, support equipment and components, and general building maintenance. Hours
AM Shift – 4:00 am to 4:00 pm
12‑hour shifts, 3 days on, 4 days off rotation (NOT A SWING SHIFT)
Occasional overtime as needed
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Follow all safety procedures required by the role and nurture a food‑safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
Perform regular scheduled preventive maintenance on printing and finishing machines, support equipment, auxiliary components, and general building maintenance.
Respond to reactive/unscheduled requests of production equipment, focusing on minimizing downtime by diagnosing problems, replacing, repairing parts, testing, and making adjustments or calibrations.
Use electrical test instruments including multimeter, amp meter, oscilloscope, and thermal imager to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
Disassemble machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
Create and complete assigned work orders generated by the CMMS program.
Document all machine malfunctions to track machine efficiency.
Interpret electrical prints/schematics, including symbol identification and PLC card I/O controls across North American, European, and Asian manufacturers.
Contribute to the creation of process documentation and quality work instructions.
Participate in Continuous Improvement root‑cause analysis initiatives to increase equipment platform performance.
Evaluate and provide feedback to optimize preventive maintenance plans.
Follow safety policy and procedures, including lock‑out/tag‑out.
Carry out other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Properly dispose of waste ink, spent solvents, and other designated waste according to hazardous‑waste handling guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Requires eight (8) years of electro‑mechanical experience, or four (4) years of electro‑mechanical experience with an associate’s degree in electro‑mechanical technology or a similar field.
Works cohesively with team members to achieve departmental goals.
Can lead, develop, and support small teams.
Manages and completes equipment‑related projects on time.
Possesses excellent electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
Has experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
Supports leadership in the event of absence.
Communicates and works effectively within the maintenance team and with internal customers.
Familiar with AC and DC circuits, low‑voltage through 480 V three‑phase power.
Proficient with office software and computer navigation.
Analyzes many variables and chooses the most effective course of action.
Resolves problems and makes effective decisions under pressure.
Works independently or as part of a team.
Provides, receives, and analyzes information.
Meets deadlines; may work overtime.
Fluently speaks and understands English.
Reads, comprehends, and follows implicit and explicit written and oral instructions.
Uses hands for 100 % of the work time (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers, drills); reaches above shoulders for 25 % of the work time.
Stands and walks for 75 % of the work time; stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls for 25 %.
Lifts up to 25 lb or less 30 % of the time, up to 50 lb or less 15 % of the time, and up to 75 lb or less 15 % of the time.
Sees clearly at 20 inches or less, or 20 feet or more, and adjusts the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
May lift up to 100 lb.
