About The Position Under general supervision, this position is responsible for repairing door locks, knobs, automatic door openers, and access systems; programming badges and key locks; key making and rekeying locksets; opening doors; and repairing door openers. The role also includes performing a variety of skilled and semi‑skilled maintenance and repair tasks on electronic and mechanical access control systems throughout the County Medical Center. This position is based in Moreno Valley.

Schedule & Requirements This position will be assigned a 5/40 or 9/80 schedule, with shifts running from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. A valid California Driver’s License is required.

Examples of Essential Duties
Installs, repairs and makes modifications on a variety of access control boards, scramble pads, card‑swipe stations, panic alarm devices, door alarms, electric and mechanical locks and other supportive devices.
Programs and maintains system server and two client computers.
Issues access codes and ID card codes to staff and maintains records of all persons having electronic access to the medical center.
Interfaces with other medical center security systems such as Infant Abduction and video surveillance.
Adjusts, repairs and replaces various locks and locking devices including combination and cylinder locks on doors, cabinets, lockers, desks and padlocks.
Makes modifications from specification, plans or oral directions on security systems and confers with supervisors, manufacturers, architects or management on key systems requirements and adjustments; submits recommendations on types of locks, locking devices and related requirements.
Changes lock combinations and opens locks that cannot be opened by ordinary means; cleans, replaces or repairs broken or worn springs, tumbles or other parts.
Rekeys doors, changes lock combinations, repairs panic bars and related requirements and removes broken keys and foreign objects from locks.
Selects key blanks, fabricates keys by key‑cutting or by hand, fits keys to locks and issues keys on requisition.
Establishes and adjusts master key systems, devising section, sub‑master and grand master systems and their safekeeping.
Maintains central key control records and security of keys, codes, combinations and location and possession of keys; produces printouts of specific access activity as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Two years in the maintenance, repair and operation of electrical and mechanical security systems.
Knowledge of:
Electrical systems; how locks, mechanical and electrical operate.
Ability to:
read, interpret, and work from plans, drawings, specifications and oral directions; repair electrical and mechanical equipment; follow oral and written directions.
