Job Overview Generally expected to work as a valued member of the XL Specialized Trailers manufacturing team in support of the Director of Operations and Production Manager. Manufactures products by supervising staff, organizing and monitoring workflow, acting as a quality inspector, serving as a safety coordinator, material handler, and trainer for the area of responsibility.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Spend 50% of time in direct labor within the area of responsibility.

Accomplish manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

Maintain staff by selecting, orienting, and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities.

Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process, setting processing variables, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel and resources, studying methods, implementing cost reductions, developing reporting procedures and systems, facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points, and fostering cooperation within and between departments.

Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring schedules, resolving problems, and reporting processing flow results in shift production summaries.

Safety: Identify and anticipate safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions.

Quality Assurance: Act as the quality inspector for areas of responsibility and maintain quality of service by establishing and enforcing organizational standards.

Material handling: Ensure all direct and indirect materials are readily available for production team members to carry out duties efficiently and effectively.

Training: Encourage production team members by helping to select, orient, and train employees and developing personal growth opportunities.

High Performance Team Board: Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answer questions and respond to requests, supporting the HPT process.

Communicate: Accomplish production team results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and training employees; initiating, coordinating, and ensuring policies and procedures are followed.

Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; wear proper personal protective equipment.

Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Ancillary Duties

Assist with continuous improvement of XL Specialized Trailers by leading and participating in projects such as Lean, 5‑S, and Kaizen.

Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve overall operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities Production employees assigned for area.

Supervision Received Works under direct supervision. The employee is responsible for carrying out the assignment, keeping the Director of Operations and Production Manager informed of progress and potential problems or future implications.

Education And Experience

High School diploma or GED.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, or Industrial Engineering; Industrial Technology: Supply Chain; or another related field.

Three years of manufacturing experience.

Physical Demands

Occasional walking, sitting, climbing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Ability to routinely lift 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs and move up to 100 lbs.

Work Environment Work is primarily performed indoors in a production facility.
