Building Services Technician - Forest Park (Pre-Hire Assessment Required)
Summary
The Facilities Technician is responsible, at the direction of the Building Manager and Facilities Supervisor, for ongoing maintenance and repair of assigned facilities or areas. Duties can vary from day to day and a maintenance schedule may be implemented so time management skills are required. Facilities Technician needs a good knowledge of building skills including HVAC, plumbing, electrical installation, and general building repair. Also, Facilities Technician will need to be adept at using a variety of hand and electrical tools. Experience in HVAC, electrical and a degree or certification from a technical school will be beneficial. The Facilities Technician will be self‑motivated and able to make critical decisions in support of monitoring, maintenance and repair of equipment that can affect facility operations. Responsibilities
Maintain a safety‑first approach for all opportunities
Perform inspections of the premises on a regular basis to determine need for repair and maintenance activities
Evaluate, repair and maintain plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems
Communicate with facilities management about any work that requires outside expert assistance
Receive and respond to work orders regarding mechanical or maintenance issues
Maintain defined assets according to known or agreed upon schedules
Calibrate instruments and tools required for job responsibilities
Complete administrative tasks including time reports, expense reports, etc.
Work evenings and weekends as assigned
Inspect and evaluate all mechanical aspects of the building
Climb heights, lift up to 60 lbs., and climb ladders
Perform other duties as assigned
Work with minimal supervision
Requirements
High school diploma or GED required
Certification in specific building management discipline – HVAC, plumbing, etc.
4+ years’ building maintenance experience
Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices
Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems
Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
Proficient computer and mobile phone skills
Proficient customer service skills
Willingness to inspect and evaluate all mechanical aspects of the building
Climb heights, lift to 60 lbs. and climb onto ladders
Driving and Fleet Vehicle Requirements
Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience and a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated
Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application
Must consent to continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
