Assistant Manager will work closely with the Manager to ensure ongoing support is provided to individuals by fostering an environment that assists them in becoming active participants in every aspect of their lives, including self‑care routines, health, safety, household chores, socialization and overall well‑being, and ensuring a high quality of life is maintained.

Responsibilities

Assists Manager with the supervision and training of Direct Support Professionals to ensure ongoing support for individuals.

Assists with the training of new employees to ensure the residence is adequately staffed with qualified personnel.

Assists with the maintenance of weekly work schedules for all staff by assigning shifts based on availability and residents’ requirements.

Assists with the maintenance of appropriate records of staff performance, including time, attendance, deficiencies, supervisory sessions, and training needs.

Verifies that all needed documentation of treatment plans is present and completed daily.

Assists with the maintenance of residents' bank accounts and expenditures, depositing and withdrawing money and reviewing monthly statements for accuracy.

Assists with arranging transportation for residents to medical appointments, ensuring the agency vehicle is available.

Confers with site RN, physicians, and pharmacies regarding the current medical status and healthcare needs of each resident.

Collaborates with individuals’ day programs by telephone or scheduled meetings to coordinate services and communication.

Oversees the housekeeping/upkeep of the residence by assigning staff responsibilities such as vacuuming, laundry, dusting, dishwashing, and floor mopping.

Performs the responsibilities of a Direct Support Professional as necessary.

Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Valid NYS Driver's License maintained throughout employment.

One (1) year experience working with the developmentally disabled.

AMAP certified required.

Good verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational and administrative abilities.
