Description Summary: The Youth Transport Specialist is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and supportive transportation services for youth participating in the organization’s programs. This role ensures timely pick‑ups and drop‑offs, maintains program vehicles, builds positive relationships with youth, and supports equitable access to educational, recreational, and social‑service opportunities.
Primary Job Functions
Safely operate organization to transport youth to and from programs, schools, events, and appointments.
Follow all traffic laws, organizational policies, and transportation safety guidelines.
Ensure proper supervision, safe boarding/exiting procedures, and youth accountability during transport.
Build positive, respectful relationships with youth riders.
Provide trauma‑informed, culturally responsive communication and de‑escalation when needed.
Support youth in understanding and following transportation rules.
Report any concerns regarding youth safety, behavior, or wellbeing to the Program Manager.
Collaborate with program staff to plan routes, schedules, and transportation needs.
Job Qualifications
High School Diploma
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Experience working with children or teens, especially in community or youth‑serving settings.
Ability to pass background checks, driving checks, and drug screening (as required).
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Experience driving vans, minibuses, or other passenger vehicles.
Knowledge of trauma‑informed youth engagement practices.
Familiarity with local community resources and youth‑service systems.
Schedule Expectations Variable; may include afternoons, evenings, weekends, or school‑year only schedules depending on program needs.
