Retail Shift Leader
Location: Berry Rd
Job Summary: Assists store leadership with day‑to‑day store operations and overall performance to meet or exceed budget while operating in compliance with company standards. Demonstrates an enthusiastic, winning attitude at all times and contributes to the mission of Goodwill by providing amazing customer service to our guests. Upholds a positive work environment and lives our core values.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Frequent supervisory of staff, providing verbal and written guidance; serves as store manager absent.
Provides customer service: addresses complaints, resolves conflicts, and assists wherever needed.
Processes customer transactions quickly and accurately within cash handling guidelines, engages with customers while on the sales floor.
Maintains proper reporting and management of the store’s financial assets such as cash register tills, cash deposits, and the change fund.
Maintains visual presentations including hardgoods end caps, H‑rack displays, shoe racks, and proper rotation of merchandise.
Ensures a clean and safe environment in stores, processing area, and donation center by adhering to good housekeeping practices or delegating to team member.
Meets or exceeds daily production goals for grading, sorting, hanging, pricing, and tagging donated items prepared for sale.
Opens and closes store during designated hours verifying all monies, cash drawers, deposit preparation, close of business paperwork, and opening paperwork.
Ensures store personnel comply with the company’s guideline to exceed customer and donor experiences and demonstrate appropriate interactions with customers and team members.
Cross‑trained and expected to learn and work in all areas of retail operation.
Prepares and implements daily huddle meetings as well as mandatory monthly meetings with staff.
Actively maintains a safe, healthy, and positive environment that promotes the physical and emotional well‑being of team members, customers, and those in our stores.
Performs store housekeeping duties as needed, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves and dusting (including restrooms and dressing rooms).
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED preferred.
12‑18 months related experience and/or training.
Knowledge of and compliance with all company policies and procedures and legal requirements.
Effective communication with other store employees.
Able to push or pull loads weighing over 50 pounds continuously.
Strong organizational skills and ability to learn new processes quickly.
Problem‑solving, prioritizing, and multitasking skills.
Able to travel to and work at other locations as needed.
Basic math skills and ability to read and complete forms.
Basic computer skills (Excel and e‑mail).
Reliable transportation to perform job duties; travel to other Goodwill locations and bank deposits as needed.
Able to work a varied schedule regularly including nights and weekends.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
Valid driver’s license.
