Client Overview Our client is a private apparel company dedicated to delivering high‑quality, fashion‑forward clothing. The company is committed to innovation, creativity, and excellence throughout the product development process and is now looking for a Freelance Product Development Assistant.
Salary / Hourly Rate $25/hr – $28/hr
Position Overview The Freelance Product Development Assistant will support the development and execution of apparel products from concept through production. This role works cross‑functionally with Design, Production, and Merchandising teams and requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a passion for the fashion industry.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Design team to develop product concepts aligned with brand vision and identity.
Coordinate the sample development process, including material sourcing, vendor communication, and quality review.
Manage development timelines and ensure on‑time delivery of samples and finished products.
Communicate regularly with cross‑functional teams to provide status updates and resolve development issues.
Conduct product fittings and participate in garment review meetings to ensure fit, construction, and quality standards.
Assist with vendor cost negotiations while maintaining quality and margin objectives.
Maintain accurate product development records, specifications, and documentation.
Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to support continuous improvement.
Required Experience / Skills
1–2 years of experience in apparel product development.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems such as AS400, Blue Cherry, or similar.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Merchandising, or a related field.
