Base pay range $40,332.00/yr - $52,426.00/yr
Summary This position serves as Supply Technician (Medical) for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service within the VA Health Care System. As a Supply Technician, you will provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and materials including sterile and non‑sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment.
Major duties and responsibilities
Pulls stock inventory and material for delivery
Replenishes stock inventory
Interacts with clinical and administrative customers and maintains records on stock levels
Communicates to the Lead or Supervisor any concerns related to supplies, equipment and procedures
Provides information to customers regarding medical supplies
Monitors expiration dates, rotates stock to limit outdates and removes items from use as required by outdates
Monitors and controls critical supplies
Performs daily inventory using barcoding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment
Resolves differences between records and physical count of stock
Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory management systems
Delivers supplies in a timely manner and ensures supplies and material delivered are in sterile and operational condition
Completes specialty cart preparation
Cleans assigned secondary areas in accordance with aseptic principles
Receives supplies and material into the medical center's catchment area
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:30am-2:30pm (subject to change depending on the needs of the agency)

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS‑04. Examples include knowledge of supply management procedures, regulations, stock rotation, automated inventory systems, analytical ability, computers and Microsoft Office, medical terminology, and communication skills.
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. Must have successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must be earned in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level.
A current valid state‑issued Driver’s License is required.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps). Volunteer experience is credited. Part‑time experience is credited based on time actually spent.
Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, reaching, bending and lifting supply packages (occasionally up to 50 lbs). Pushing loaded carts (over 100 lbs). With assistance, moving heavier items over 40 lbs.
