TEC Group is partnering with a long-established Mechanical Service Contractor in the Chicago area that is looking for a Project Manager / Estimator to join their team. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Project Manager / Estimator will act as a key liaison between the company and its customers. This role focuses on estimating and managing HVAC piping and sheet metal projects, maintaining strong relationships with clients and vendors, and ensuring successful execution from proposal through project close-out. RESPONSIBILITIES: Project Estimating Review plans and specifications; identify gaps and prepare RFI's as needed Estimate HVAC piping and sheet metal projects for both Plan & Spec and Design/Build work Prepare detailed proposals, scopes of work, and competitive bid packages Maintain and update estimating software to ensure accurate pricing

Project Planning & Documentation

Prepare or coordinate permit drawings, shop drawings, and as-built CAD documents Obtain installation permits and ensure all required documentation is submitted Develop project schedules and coordinate milestones with internal and external teams

Procurement & Vendor Management

Order equipment and materials and issue purchase orders Solicit and evaluate quotations from vendors and subcontractors Negotiate pricing and terms to secure favorable project costs

Project Execution & Coordination

Serve as Project Manager for awarded projects, overseeing execution from start to finish Track project progress, budgets, and cost performance Assist with resolving issues that arise during construction Maintain organized digital project files for field personnel

Project Close-Out & Performance Review

Manage project close-out documentation including as-builts, warranty letters, startup reports, balancing reports, and IOMs Conduct post-project performance reviews to compare estimated vs. actual costs Stay current with industry trends, technology, and construction methods to improve efficiency and quality
