Highway/Roadway Project Manager
Jacobs is seeking an experienced Highway/Roadway Project Manager for our Des Moines, Iowa office. The role involves planning, directing, and executing transportation projects, overseeing multidisciplinary design teams, coordinating with the Iowa Department of Transportation, and ensuring projects stay on schedule and budget.
Base pay range $115,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
Responsibilities You will lead transportation project teams from concept to construction, manage project budgets and timelines, coordinate with clients and public stakeholders, develop technical presentations, and mentor junior staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline
Professional Engineering (PE) licensure in the State of Iowa
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Progressive experience as an engineer and project manager in the transportation design field
Relationships and experience delivering projects for the Iowa Department of Transportation
Demonstrated knowledge of transportation infrastructure projects
Strong client-facing project manager skills and ability to assemble a team
Skilled in delivering technical presentations to stakeholders
Self‑starter initiative and ability to work independently
Well‑rounded technical design skills across contributing disciplines
Preferred Additional Qualifications
15+ years of experience in transportation planning or a closely related field
Experience delivering projects for the South Dakota Department of Transportation and licensure in South Dakota or ability to obtain it
Experience with Bentley design software such as OpenRoads Designer
Experience assisting with business development efforts Interest and ability to mentor junior level staff
