Position Purpose

The Adjunct Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary (EFDA) Clinic/Lab Instructor provides hands‑on instruction and supervision to students enrolled in the EFDA Program during the clinic/lab sessions. This position focuses exclusively on developing and assessing students’ (pre)clinical skills related to expanded function dental procedures as permitted by the Ohio State Dental Board (OSDB). The adjunct instructor ensures that students demonstrate competency, accuracy, and professionalism in performing restorative and other EFDA‑level procedures within the clinical/lab setting. Salary

Salary : $46.00 per hour Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide laboratory instruction and supervision in the performance of EFDA dental procedures, including amalgam and composite restorations, sealant application, and coronal polishing, along with related restorative techniques. Demonstrate proper use of dental materials, instruments, and equipment in alignment with program competencies and safety standards. Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback to promote skill development and confidence. Maintain a safe and organized clinic/lab environment, ensuring adherence to infection control, OSHA, and institutional safety protocols. Assist in the setup, breakdown, and maintenance of clinic/lab materials, equipment, and supplies. Collaborate with the Program Director and EFDA Coordinator, along with other faculties to ensure consistency and alignment of clinical/lab instruction with curriculum objectives. Participate in faculty calibration sessions and required program meetings. Support student learning through individualized assistance and skill remediation as needed. Maintain current professional credentials and stay informed on new materials, techniques, and EFDA practice standards. Minimum Qualifications

Currently Registered Dental Assisting or Certified Dental Assisting credentials Current certification and registration as an Expanded Functions Auxiliary (EFDA) in the State of Ohio through the OSDB Minimum of 2‑3 years of recent clinical experience performing expanded function dental procedures Current CPR certification (Healthcare Provider Level – Recognized through the OSDB) Demonstrated proficiency in restorative techniques and dental material manipulation Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Commitment to fostering a supportive, student‑centered clinical/lab learning environment Preferred Qualifications

Associate or bachelor’s degree in dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, or a related field Dentist licensed by the OSDB Current certification and registration as an Expanded Functions Auxiliary (EFDA) in the State of Ohio through the OSDB Demonstrate proficiency in restorative techniques and dental materials Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience performing expanded function dental procedures Current CPR certification through a qualified provider recognized by the OSDB Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Commitment to fostering a supportive, student‑centered clinical/lab learning environment Working Conditions

Position is part‑time and scheduled according to EFDA clinical/lab course needs. Clinical/lab instruction may occur during the day, evening, or weekend hours. Requires standing for extended period and working in a clinical environment. Must comply with all EFDA program, Hocking College, and regulatory standards for safety and professionalism.
