Contract Position Focus Points:
The goal within the Maintenance Department is to maintain plant electrical and mechanical systems and equipment in a safe and reliable manner.
The Maintenance Department’s function is to provide outstanding customer service to the manufacturing and support groups in all areas of the plant through preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrading of plant processing, packaging, and the filling line equipment.
In addition, Maintenance Department personnel serve as a technical resource to the plant, division manufacturing and engineering groups. Repair gear heads and reducers, run all types of piping including black iron, stainless steel, copper, PVC and flexible tubing, install various components such as seals, bearings, o‑rings, gaskets, adhesives, belts, chains, rollers, sprockets, gears and sheaves, troubleshoot and rebuild centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, weld stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, fabricate guards and other components out of sheet metal and Lexan, cut metal with a plasma cutter or torch, wire and repair electric motors, perform basic wiring and replace lighting fixtures and lamps. Correctly size fusing, motor overload protection, and wire size per National Electric Code (NEC); read electrical schematics and wire directly from wiring diagrams; use electrical and precision tools to complete assigned work.
Proficient in performing repairs to production equipment and plant utility systems, troubleshooting complex high‑speed filling, packaging and conveying equipment, make machine adjustments to liquid line seamers, bottle sealers and bottle cappers, adjust timing systems such as rotary sterilizers, ensure proper operation of electrical and mechanical components and devices (push buttons, switches, timers, solenoids, electrical disconnects, AC and DC motors), troubleshoot and repair barcode scanners and video‑jet ink printers.
Housekeeping of the shop is primarily the responsibility of everyone working in the area.
Accountable for maintaining various hand tools and equipment; drills, winches, micrometers, calipers, torches, welders, lathe, mill, multimeter, etc.
This position is accountable for ensuring compliance with applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA, and other regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines.
Must be flexible to meet business needs and work occasional overtime, weekend or extended hours.
Manage daily assigned routine preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and facilities, determine repairs needed or to prevent unsafe conditions or to comply with Company and/or Agency rules and regulations.
Respond to alarm or trouble calls as required and maintain a strong floor presence.
Function as a member of the ATM Maintenance Team and assist as necessary to accomplish production goals and throughput initiatives.
Address production stop situations and troubleshoot causes of malfunction in equipment, and participate in implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain good knowledge of equipment in the production area (including setup and operation). Attend to applicable training needs to maintain consistent service to production equipment and areas of focus.
Escort and assist as necessary, outside repair personnel in the performance of their duties in production areas.
Maintain appropriate records of work, keep inventory of spare parts and materials, and provide the Supervisor with needed information associated with parts or special materials needed to effectively perform repairs on all equipment.
