Join Southend Pharmacy’s compounding team as a Quality Control Technician. Work Sunday-Thursday 9:00PM-7:30AM. Competitive pay: $60,000-$65,000.
About the Role Ensure safety and quality of compounding sterile environment in a 503A pharmacy. Perform environmental monitoring, sample collection, quality tests, and document per USP standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine environmental monitoring of controlled areas, air, and surface sampling.
Conduct sterility, endotoxin, potency, and pH testing on prepared products.
Maintain accurate QC activity records, test results, environmental data, and calibration logs.
Calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment used in QC testing.
Follow SOPs for compounding, testing, and cleaning to ensure consistency.
Investigate OOS results, deviations, and support CAPA development.
Assist in training pharmacy staff on aseptic techniques and gowning procedures.
Monitor inventory of QC testing supplies, reagents, and media.
Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, and QA staff to adhere to quality standards.
Support preparation for inspections by state boards of pharmacy, FDA, or other regulatory bodies.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years experience in sterile compounding pharmacy, microbiology lab, or related field.
Certification as Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Texas issued.
Experience with USP, cGMP principles, and state/federal pharmacy regulations.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex protocols.
Experience in aseptic techniques and cleanroom operations.
Basic understanding of microbiology and analytical testing methods.
Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Minimum 2 years experience with Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field.
Experience in a 503A or 503B pharmacy quality control.
Laboratory experience and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods, wear PPE, and work in a controlled cleanroom environment.
