Job Summary The Sterile Processing Technician I (SP Tech I) is responsible for decontaminating, processing, and sterilizing instruments, supplies, and equipment by following established standards and guidelines. The SP Tech I demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Completion of Central Service Technology Course or equivalent work experience (at least one year in central sterile processing). One year of work experience in Central Sterile Processing may substitute for the course.

Above average verbal communication skills with heavy public contact.

Legible handwriting and coherent writing for reports.

Knowledge of medical terminology, critical thinking, ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment, lead projects, monitor and interpret gauge results, research surgical instruments and supply companies.

Basic computer (PC) proficiency.

Work Schedule Weekends, holidays, flexible, on‑call.

Equipment Operated

Sterilization equipment, decontamination equipment, endoscopic re‑processors, heat sealers, biological incubators, bar‑code scanners, computer/printer, elevator system, temperature monitors, visual screen monitors, digital camera, inter‑department paging system.
