Project Engineer (Independence Construction)
DiGeronimo Companies is seeking a Project Engineer for Independence Construction, a leading construction management business headquartered in Northeast Ohio. The role is located in Columbus, OH.

Key Responsibilities
Assist the project manager and/or superintendent in construction project aspects.
Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and the Independence Construction project team.
Administer and monitor compliance with construction contracts with owners, subcontractors, and vendors.
Coordinate and expedite materials and services for the job site in conjunction with the superintendent.
Schedule and manage meetings throughout each phase of construction and pre‑construction.
Assist the PM with the management of project budget, budget revisions, cost projections, and cash‑flow projections. Assist with generation of reports.
Review and coordinate structural, architectural, and MEP drawings throughout the project.
Assist PM in the oversight and management of change‑management processes.
Collect and analyze trade contractor proposals for scope changes.
Review and negotiate the cost for scope changes to ensure pricing is accurate and fair.
Log change management to the correct cost codes.
Issue the subcontract change order upon approval by owner and PM.
Lead the RFI process, including initiating, reviewing responses, maintaining a log, and distributing to the team.
Lead the submittal process, including initiating, reviewing submittals, maintaining a log, and distributing upon approvals.
Maintain accurate and current drawing log, submittal log, and RFI log.
Coordinate project meetings with PM and superintendent before project start.
Attend owner, architect, and CM meetings.
Collect, review, and process subcontractor payment applications as assigned by the PM. Assist in compiling owner payment applications.
Assist the superintendent and PM in creating and updating the master schedule.
Participate in QA/QC program development and work with the team for quality control and assurance.
Assist PM and superintendent with close‑out processes and preliminary punch lists.
Coordinate owner‑requested warranty requirements during the warranty period.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
2–5 years of related experience.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of budgeting and expense control.
Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
Ability to organize work, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Ability to perform duties independently.
Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications.
Strong attention to detail.
