Senior Technical Designer
About The Role The Senior Technical Designer will play a key role in driving the technical development, fit, and production readiness of the brand’s dress categories. This position requires deep experience in dresses, advanced technical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively across Design, Production, and Merchandising teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the creation, maintenance, and accuracy of tech packs, including construction details, graded measurement specs, BOMs, stitch details, and garment diagrams.
Manage and communicate all revisions throughout the development and production cycle, ensuring updates are accurately reflected in PLM and shared with cross‑functional partners and vendors.
Conduct fit sessions, evaluate samples, and provide clear, concise technical comments to ensure proper fit, quality, and brand consistency.
Partner closely with Design to translate creative concepts into technically executable garments tailored to the brand’s aesthetic.
Collaborate with domestic and overseas factories, ensuring technical accuracy and timely sample delivery.
Maintain and track all technical information, measurements, and updates using PLM systems and Excel‑based tools.
Support Production in meeting calendar deadlines, identifying fit or construction issues early, and resolving challenges that may impact cost, quality, or delivery.
Mentor junior technical designers as needed and support workflow efficiency across the team.
Required Qualifications
Dress experience is essential—extensive background in dress construction, draping, fabrics, finishing techniques, and fit.
5–8+ years in Technical Design, with at least several years focused on dresses.
Proficiency with PLM systems and Microsoft Excel.
Strong understanding of garment engineering, patternmaking, grading, and fit standards.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate fit and construction feedback to vendors.
Detail‑oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple styles and deadlines in a fast‑paced, design‑driven environment.
Salary $120,000-$125,000
