Electro-Mechanical Technician- 2nd Shift La Terra Fina, Union City
Description In this role you will repair, maintain, and install production machinery, solving complex problems primarily on electrical/electronic systems. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installation of machinery relating to food processing equipment, physical structures, mechanical and electrical systems. This is a swing shift position , 2:30pm to 2:30am
Requirements
Performs a wide variety of diagnostic activities, methods, procedures and techniques to layout, install, align, repair, overhaul and maintain various types of machines, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical systems and operations
Applies knowledge of PLC, servo drives and servo motors errors
Studies blueprints and manufacturer’s manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery
Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems and using precision measuring and testing instruments
Fabricates small parts as needed to minimize downtime
Executes on preventive maintenance schedules to ensure uptime/downtime targets are achieved
Controls downtime by partnering with production and scheduling teams to exchange information on mechanical issues
Ensures effective communication between shifts and teams by following documentation procedures and standards
Ensures all maintenance activities are in compliance with federal, state and local laws and codes, as well as company policies which govern safety, food safety
Observes good manufacturing practices
Understands and applies safety practices, and works to develop a basic understanding of OSHA
Ensures that safety is given top priority in work execution, including Arc/Shock Hazardn safety, confined spaces, lockdowns, hazardous materials, hard tools safety, etc.
Partners with engineering team to align on operation of new machinery
Works with broader engineering team to discuss machine operations, repairs, etc., to ensure optimal maintenance schedules and outcomes
High school degree and technical/vocational certification is required. A minimum of five years of electrical and mechanical systems maintenance in food manufacturing is required. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including basic PLC, servo driver and servo motor errors are required. Must have experience in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics and computer control skills are required. Must have sanitary fabrication skills. Must be familiar with food safety and good manufacturing practices. Ability to use a wide variety of workshop tools, including milling, welding and lathe. Ability to effectively execute on preventive maintenance tasks and schedules.
Physical Requirements
Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties.
Work conditions vary, working time will vary based upon work / project needs, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 5 to 90 F degrees in processing departments.
Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment are present in the plant.
Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical, hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick.
Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 25 lbs. to stand for long periods of time
Close visual acuity to view a computer terminal, analyze reports, manage data and details
This role is a swing shift with rotating shift -2:30pm to 2:30 am (2 on 3 off -3 on 2 off)
