Do you enjoy working outdoors? Do you enjoy work that benefits the community by making the world a greener place? Join our dynamic team of Arborists, Engineers and Construction Management Specialists as we work together to improve the green infrastructure of NYC. Role Accountabilities
Conduct daily site inspections, supervise, and control construction activities to ensure site safety, permit compliance, and coordination with city agencies. Monitor and supervise contractor performance, ensuring adherence to technical requirements and maintaining high responsiveness. Oversee construction activities including excavation, tree planting, stump and tree removals, concrete restorations, and saw cutting operations. Perform on‑site measurements, track quantities, and perform pre‑ and in‑construction design work to assess progress and quality. Report regularly to resident engineer, project lead, and professional engineer (PE) to keep programs informed and enable effective decision‑making. Maintain daily, weekly, and expert tracking records; verify quantities and line items in the field with contractors and clients. Attend field meetings with contractors and owners to discuss progress, schedules, and remaining work, ensuring timely project advancement. Serve as an ambassador for the city’s urban forest resources during interactions with residents and landowners. Administer all health and safety (H&S) procedures as necessary. Participate in a green infrastructure mentorship program to gain knowledge and skills related to environmentally friendly construction practices. Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in forestry, arboriculture, horticulture, or related plant science field. 1 or more years’ professional industry experience in tree protection, pruning, installation and establishment, or other services that directly relate to the work of the contract. Skills in Microsoft 365 Suite, especially Microsoft Excel and Microsoft SharePoint. Key Skills / Attributes
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and within a diverse team. Basic understanding of tree biology, tree establishment, and general landscape construction work. Proficient at reading and understanding design plans, specifications, and shop drawing submittals. Ability to be mentored and understand green infrastructure in NYC. Preferred Qualifications
ISA Certified Arborist. ISA TRAQ. Capital Contract Supervision Oversight. Construction/Restoration Oversight. OSHA 10 Certification. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $33.00–$36.00/HR. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
