Job Overview Mechanic - A (III) (West Yard)
Transdev in Phoenix, Arizona is seeking an experienced A-Level Diesel Mechanic to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Diesel Mechanic, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our diesel-powered assets.

Salary
Starting pay $33.77 with progression to $36.46 over 4 months.
ASE $0.25 per cert; $0.30 additional for master ASE.
Master ASE total $2.30 above hourly rate.

Vacation: up to 80 hours a year.
Paid Sick Leave: 40 hours.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on diesel engines.
Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs.
Complete preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for diesel engines.
Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications
5 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
ASE certifications required; ASE certification program provided.
Mechanic’s Tool Set.
Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements
Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions—100% of the job is performed outside, often alone and in remote locations.
Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on potentially sloped, slippery, and uneven surfaces.
Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
