Job Purpose and Summary This role involves the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures across various PTC locations. The employee performs skilled tasks following standard electrical and mechanical trade practices, is supervised by a technician, and ensures compliance with the electrical code.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Maintain, repair, and install electric motors, relays, conductors, pumps, heaters, fans, air conditioners, electric services, distribution centers, breaker panels, card control devices, emergency generators, switch gears, transformers, roadway lighting, tunnel lighting, general lighting, conduit, and associated wiring.

Locate and correct power failures and short circuits.

Estimate time and materials needed for projects.

Inspect, isolate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical malfunctions using test instruments.

Inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements, and applicable building and safety codes and regulations.

Operate an aerial lift and work at heights.

Operate and maintain systems, tools, and equipment of the electrical trade.

Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and prints.

Be available 24/7/365 for emergency response.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) or a CDL learner’s permit with a valid driver’s license; must pass the Class B CDL road test by the end of the probationary period.

No CDL restrictions of E, K, L, or Z.

Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT Physical Card).

Completion of electrical technical training at an accredited technical school and three (3) years of commercial/residential experience as an electrician; OR five (5) years of documented electrical experience with a commercial/residential balance.

Physical Demands and Work Environment Position requires frequent speaking, writing, and reading reports; frequent travel and fieldwork with exposure to roadway traffic. Incumbents must read fine print and details with no color deficiencies. Physically capable of standing, stooping, walking, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds routinely and up to 150 pounds occasionally. Exert 10–100 pounds of force. Use hand or power tools while working on electrical systems. Work in overhead, bending, squatting, kneeling, or prone positions. May require long hours in emergency situations, adverse weather, or extended assignments. Field environment may include moderate to unfavorable conditions; work at heights, on uneven surfaces, in confined spaces, and extreme weather conditions. Follow safety equipment or precautions in field conditions.
