Materials & Process (M&P) Engineer - Polymers Location:

Middle River, MD

Salary Range:

$64,400 – $95,800 per year

What YOU Will Do

Support the Research and Development of next‑generation composite materials, processes, and equipment for aerostructure applications.

Apply knowledge of materials science and engineering to develop, characterize, and test new materials and material systems.

Support the development of novel polymer systems and chemistries from formulation through to production introduction.

Utilize and maintain characterization techniques to develop critical formulation screening tools.

Support the development of engineering processes, methods, and tools.

Participate in a research and development environment developing new materials and associated manufacturing and application processes.

Limited domestic/international travel may be required (up to 20%).

What YOU Must Bring To Succeed

Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent field.

Understanding of polymer structures and properties and chemical and mechanical testing techniques including FTIR, DSC, DMA, and rheology.

0–5 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

Technical knowledge in one or more of the areas of adhesives, composites, metallics, polymers/elastomers, or high‑temperature materials.

Familiarity with 3‑D CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, or similar).

Operational knowledge of materials characterization lab equipment.

Familiarity with statistical software, including Minitab, JMP, or similar.

Proactive and efficient delivery of communication and follow‑up.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work in a timely manner.

Access to export‑controlled technology requires U.S. Person status or government authorization. Candidates must be U.S. Persons or fall within a legally recognized export‑control exception.

Desired Characteristics

Aerospace materials processing and testing experience.

Proficiency with MS Office.
