Daikin Applied is seeking a Mechanical Designer II or III (level will be determined based on experience). The Mechanical Designer will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage BOMs for small, medium, and large projects. The Mechanical Designer will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation ensuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost have been considered. Location Staunton, VA – Hybrid
What You Will Do
Create engineering documentation, including SolidWorks, modeling, fabrication, and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards
Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation
Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules
Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills
Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness
Complete work assignments within a determined time frame and use judgment in deciding assignment goals
Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products
Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic
Be part of and function in a team environment, including cross‑functional and inter‑departmental teams

Minimum Qualifications
Vocational or Technical Degree or Associate’s degree in Design/Drafting
4+ years of relevant experience
Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with sheet metal design and/or HVAC products
SolidWorks experience

Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
