Opportunity We are seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of Class 7 and Class 8 tractors, trailers, and related equipment. The position plays a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of MVE fleet operations and supports our terminals by minimizing breakdowns, improving asset longevity, and keeping equipment road‑ready.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Perform maintenance and repair on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other fleet equipment using modern tools and diagnostic technology.

Conduct routine services and adjustments on Class 7 and Class 8 diesel equipment to ensure vehicle reliability and readiness.

Repair or rebuild mechanical components and systems as needed to maintain optimal equipment performance.

Complete DOT‑mandated safety inspections and required documentation accurately and timely.

Maintain compliance with DOT, EPA, OSHA, and applicable regulations to meet legal and safety standards.

Stay current with industry technology and repair methods, maintaining proficiency in diagnostics and mechanical practices.

Possession and use of personal hand tools for diesel and tractor‑trailer work is strongly preferred.

Hydraulic system experience is preferred but not required.

Skills & Attributes

Strong mechanical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a shop environment.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Ability to manage time efficiently and meet operational repair demands.

Knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic components.

Familiarity with DOT and OSHA compliance requirements.

Requirements

Education: 2+ years of technical training or equivalent experience in diesel or heavy truck maintenance.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of Class 8 truck repair or commercial fleet experience.

Ability to obtain EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery & Recycling Certification (ASE, MACS, or equivalent) within 90 days of hire.

Ability to work varying shifts including days, evenings, nights, and overtime as required.

Compensation

Compensation: $31.00 – $34.00 per hour based on experience and location.

Classification: Non‑Exempt, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
