Position Title Process Engineer

Reporting to GM of Production

Department Manufacturing

JOB SUMMARY This engineering position is focused on our Generator Manufacturing Division and is responsible for driving continuous improvement through data-driven analysis, technical reporting and structured problem-solving. The Process Engineer will lead efforts in monitoring, optimizing and documenting manufacturing processes while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficiency, quality and scalability of operation.

Candidate must live in, or be willing to relocate to the Kansas City, Missouri area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Collect, analyze and report on

process performance data

(efficiency, quality, downtime, yield, and cost metrics) to identify trends and opportunities

Apply structured problem-solving methods (Root Cause Analysis, 5-Whys, DMAIC, PFMEA) to resolve production issues and prevent recurrence

Develop, implement, and maintain

technical documentation

including process flows, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and PFMEAs

Partner with Quality to ensure accurate

Control Plan updates , data tracking, and defect reduction initiatives

Collaborate with operators and supervisors on the shop floor to validate improvements, capture process feedback, and drive fact-based decision-making

Support manufacturability studies using

data modeling, capability studies and statistical analysis

to influence product and process design

Serve as

technical liaison

between Production Engineering, Operations and Corporate Engineering, ensuring alignment on process changes and pilot runs

Lead reporting on the effectiveness of manufacturing trials, pilots and new process implementations, providing data-backed recommendations

Train operators and supervisors on process changes with an emphasis on

metrics-driven outcomes and technical comprehension

Assist Maintenance in troubleshooting and analyzing recurring machine performance issues using downtime and reliability data

Manage small tooling and shop aid design projects, ensuring decisions are justified with performance data and cost-benefit analysis

Support Corporate Manufacturing Engineering and Senior Process Engineers on major projects through technical reporting and structured data reviews

QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in

Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing or Process Engineering

(or related technical field)

2+ years of engineering experience in a

manufacturing environment

(preferably heavy equipment, power generation or related industry)

Experience applying

data analysis and problem-solving methodologies

to manufacturing processes

Technical Skills

Proficiency in

statistical analysis tools

and techniques (SPC, DOE, capability studies, regression analysis)

Strong skills in

data management and reporting

using Excel, Power BI, SQL or similar platforms

Experience with

Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or DMAIC

methodologies

Familiarity with

PFMEA, Control Plans and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)

processes

Working knowledge of

CAD software

for tooling and fixture design (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar)

Exposure to ERP/MES systems and manufacturing data collection systems is a plus

WORK CONDITIONS Physical Demands/Work Environment:
