Responsibilities
Lead small-group project teams to propose, select, qualify, and test metals and composites for hyper-sonic projectiles and atmospheric re-entry vehicle applications.
Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments.
Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions.
Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports.
Engage regularly with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to meet program objectives.
Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement.
Typically looking for 0 to 2 years of professional experience.
Qualifications
A self-starter who develops solutions to technical issues.
A motivated individual who can work closely within a geographically diverse team to resolve technical issues.
Someone with the ability to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects and timeline pressure to meet deadlines.
Someone comfortable with communicating in a variety of forums.
Someone willing to mentor and guide junior engineers.
The ability to work with management and program representatives at several levels.
Technical leadership of small teams or projects.
Proven ability to communicate key project information or recommendations to Program management and/or Customers.
BS Degree in Materials Engineering or related background or field of study.
Formal coursework, training, experience and/or knowledge in the design, analysis, and/or construction of mechanical parts or materials.
Good writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
This position requires the ability to obtain a DOD security clearance.
Desired Skills
Knowledge of engineering drawings, bill of materials, alloys and heat treatment, polymeric materials and corrosion control methods.
Familiarity with technical requirements and engineering standards used in aerospace.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, computers and network systems.
Ability to work independently and multi-task, with demonstrated leadership skills.
Energetic, detail oriented and enjoy working in dynamic development environment with shifting priorities.
Active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
